CH
Srinagar Shavar Shahin
CC
Owner: Marian Alexander
Breeder: Dr. Winafred and Afton
Blake (Srinagar)
List of Accomplishments:
| Owned throughout her coursing and show career by Dan and
Laura Belkin (whose kennel Bayt Shahin, is named for her). Shahin came to
live with the Alexander's during the Belkin's 1970-1971 stay in England and
stayed. The Belkin's signed over her ownership in 1976 as a birthday gift.
Shahin had already won her championship, the Mia Cup and the Adana Cup in
1969. In 1970, she was Dog of the Year, won the Mia Cup again and was 2nd in
the BFCA Hunt. She became a CC in 1971 and won the Christmas Cup. Famed for
her furious (and noisy) passion for the hunt, she was the winner of several
ASA coursing trophies. The Shahin Trophy was donated by Chuck and Marian Alexander in memory of Shahin and was first awarded during the 1976-77 season. It is presented to the dam whose progeny accumulates the most open field coursing points during the coursing season. In 1969 Shahin was the first winner of the Mia Cup and won it again it 1970. The Mia Cup, donated in 1969 by Bill and Mary Lou Casady in memory of Anfa’s Fawzia, traditionally run as the last breed hunt of the season. Shahin won the Adana Memorial Challenge Cup, offered by ASA and donated in 1969 by Clint and Beryl Lundeberg in memory of Adana, presented to the bitch who accumulates the highest total open field points during the calendar year. Christmas Cup, the oldest ASA Coursing trophy donated in 1965 by the Hounds of Srinagar, traditionally awarded for a hunt held in mid-December and presented at a dinner celebration. The cup is filled by the previous year’s winner with a potent nectar to be shared by all. |
